Chausa are a sweet variety of mango that has a golden-yellow color when it is ripe. It is almost fiberless, and has an aromatic, pleasant and a sweet flavor. The unique taste and richness in its flavor makes it a worldwide favorite. It is also considered to be the best mango in terms of its rich aroma, sweet taste, juicy pulp and high nutritional value. Chausas have higher vitamin C content than other mango cultivars.

Store mangoes in the box until they are ripe. The holes in the box provide ventilation for natural ripening. Consume the fruit when fully ripe. The skin will have a slight blush and the fruit would feel soft and not firm when slightly sqeezed.
This variety of mango was originally made popular by Sher Shah Suri throughout the Indian subcontinent. While commemorating his victory over Humayun at Chausa in Bihar, he gave his favorite mango the name Chaunsa. Chausa it is also known as Ghazipuriya Aam because during the early days of the mango and was also cultivated on a Large scale in Ghazipur District.
